Community Relations

The Auxiliary has been around since 1946. It has been a group of senior volunteers but just recently we have had younger ladies join. It also is open to men as well although we do not have men involved now. They play a vital role in support of the hospital and health care. The hours they give help raise money for the hospital and it all goes back into healthcare. The Auxiliary ladies volunteer to run the gift shop, work the information desk, help with misc fundraisers and support other departments in the hospital. The profits they make help fund a scholarship to a senior who wants to go into healthcare (if the student keeps their GPA above 3.0 then it is renewable), provide special supplies to departments, special projects and more. When a need arises, the ladies talk about how they can help at the monthly meeting. Auxiliary members are required to attend monthly meetings and contribute an annual membership fee of $5.00.
PMH Medical Center offers various volunteer positions, whether it is to advance your career interests, or simply to give something back to the community. Volunteers must be at least 16 years of age and available a minimum of two to four hours per week for at least three months. Volunteers are trained in specific areas by a department manager or staff member. Volunteers play an integral part in accomplishing our mission “To provide excellent healthcare and support services to enhance the health and well being of the people in the communities we serve.” Over 6000 hours have been given this year.
We have volunteer opportunities, job shadow and clinical program opportunities and help community service hours.
